    I have only just heard of pin stitch as a beginner just starting my third project. I saw one very short video by someone which was fine but this is amazing! Hugely informative and I LOVE the naughty pin stitch haha! Can't wait to try on my future my challenging projects. Off to find videos on evenweave and linen as I have two practice fabrics and they are SO small and not sure if I'll be able to do it! 😬😬😁😁👍👍

      I leave that moisture there on purpose. The heat will go through the piece and turn that moisture to steam to help me with that final press to remove creases. Thanks for watching!

    I have an iron but no ironing board. Did you use an ironing board or just the pillowcase and a table. The pillowcase is a good idea. I was thinking of using the top of my washing machine. I was going to use an ironing pad but it has quilting on it. So I want to use the pillowcase. Is it safe to just use a pillowcase on the table or washing machine? Thanks. Love your videos!

    • @SonovaStitch

      I would avoid ironing on any surface heat could damage, especially wood, but I've ironed on my granite countertops before just fine. I have a small ironing board that's meant to sit on a table top. Takes up much less space and easier to set up! Thanks for watching!

    I'm going to have to trade in my terry cloth towel for a pillow case! I iron my pieces when they are dry, especially to iron out creases from the hoop and nurge hoop. I notice when I iron directly on my Aida cloth, it discolours the Aida. It then looks brown like I have scorched it. Thankfully this is only on the back, so I haven't ruined projects! Another great video, though! I find the videos informative and entertaining!

    Lookout! The cross stitch police will be all over you for ironing on the right side of the fabric. Personally, I think whatever makes it pretty for you is the right way. How do you keep the nozzle on that spray glue from clogging? I love the stuff but find its unusable after the first couple of projects. Hi Nugget!

    • @SonovaStitch
      @SonovaStitch День назад

      Ironing while damp keeps the fabric from scorching. The directions say to turn it upside down and spray it until it stops spraying glue after each use to clear the nozzle. So far that has worked (and my can is nearly empty). Thanks for watching!

    Looks pretty and tidy but one issue is of storing remaining ends of threads after you complete work. I always preserve remaining floss for next work and only ziplock bags work in that way.

    What a helpful video! I’m making a bookmark for my son and the fabric has frayed so much that I ran out of room and can’t finish without losing the last two lines. I don’t know if I should just do my best to secure the fray and just finish without the last two lines on the right hand side or if I should start over? 😢

    • @CaterpillarCrossStitch
      @CaterpillarCrossStitch 2 дня назад

      I think this has to be based on how you feel. Do you feel that losing the last 2 lines will ruin the overall look? If so, maybe start again. If not, I would leave as is.

      That's Nugget! We got Nugget as a tiny baby, too young to reliably sex, so we decided then to use they/them and just stuck with it once they were older. The only way they will take a bath is if I hold my hand out to use as a bird bath! They have one foot that has a little bit of deformity and I think don't feel stable on the sink or a plate or the like. They appear in videos on the channel quite frequently!

  • @elaineashley1958
    @elaineashley1958 9 дней назад

    I just pulled out an old, framed piece which has dust on it. How strange to find this video made this morning!! Should I vacuum it before washing it as long as the attachment is clean? Or blow it with a can of pressurized air?

    • @SonovaStitch
      @SonovaStitch 8 дней назад

      I see from your next comment you saw my prior video and got an answer on that one. I've tried the vacuum before and the lint roller just works better altogether! Pressurized air would probably drive the dirt and dust further down into the fabric. For the yellowing, you could try using a laundry pre-treat like oxyclean and a soft toothbrush, but it may not be something on the surface; it might be chemical changes in the fabric itself which may or may not be removable.

  • @SWEETDFAN17

    Thank you for this video. I have recently framed two projects without washing it first 😢 I use a gentle powder to wash projects (except for the framed last two). I dilute the powder in the water and double rinse to make sure no powder is left behind. I'm working on a large full coverage where the fabric is 3' x 2'. I have a small kitchen sink. Would it be okay to wash it in the bathtub if I first clean the bathtub really well?

    Could you also feature a way of washing for those of us who live in drought conditions and feel guilty wasting that much water? Also, what about using silk threads.

    • @SonovaStitch
      @SonovaStitch 8 дней назад

      I live in a desert state with frequent drought conditions. We just broke a decade-long drought last year actually, but to be totally honest, domestic water use is a minuscule portion of water usage. The vast, vast majority of water usage is by agriculture and industrial users, and they just try to trick home consumers into thinking they can do something about it so they won't go after the real culprits. BUT! In virtually all areas, water that goes down your sink like this is not consumed! It will go to a treatment plant and then eventually be used to water farmland or one of those big wasteful golf courses. Thanks so much for watching!

    • @cherylrichards8951
      @cherylrichards8951 8 дней назад

      I would agree, except I live in an area where our only water source is rainwater. There's no way for us to acquire water from another location as we live on an island.

    You forgot to mention some place to store your needles. They won’t stay firm, in the little slips they come in, for very long. Would be really nice to open your little stitch bag and all your needles slide out- great if you have kids and pets- experience tells me that. Imagine a vet visit at midnight because your puppy grabbed the needles before you did.
